Weandrsquo;re looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to join an established construction team on an exciting new-build education project in Hertfordshire.

The Opportunity
As Quantity Surveyor, youandrsquo;ll play an important role in the commercial success of the project, working closely with the wider delivery team to ensure the scheme is delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.
Youandrsquo;ll be responsible for managing the day-to-day commercial aspects of the project, from procurement and cost control through to valuations and final accounts. Working within a team of three, youandrsquo;ll have the support and collaboration of an experienced commercial function, alongside the opportunity to take ownership of your work and continue developing your expertise.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial aspects of a new-build education project from procurement through to final account.
- Monitoring project costs, budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
- Managing subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and payments.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate commercial reports and cost forecasts.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities to protect project profitability.
- Working closely with project managers, site teams, clients and supply chain partners.
- Ensuring contractual obligations and commercial processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Supporting the successful delivery of the scheme while maintaining strong commercial control.
What Weandrsquo;re Looking For
Ideally, youandrsquo;ll have:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
- Experience working on new-build construction projects.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of cost control, procurement and contract administration.
- The ability to manage subcontractors, valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach, strong attention to detail and the confidence to take ownership of your responsibilities.
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
Experience working on education projects would be advantageous, although experience on other new-build construction schemes will also be considered.
