Financial Controller
Salary: -40,000 - -50,000 per annum
Location: Hybrid Working (3 days office-based)

The Opportunity
A growing SME is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and provide reliable financial reporting, cash flow management and commercial support to senior leadership. This is a varied role offering responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to influence decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Manage cash flow forecasting, banking and working capital.
- Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control activities.
- Lead month-end processes, reconciliations and financial controls.
- Manage supplier payments and monitor financial commitments.
- Prepare VAT returns and support year-end accounting requirements.
- Deliver budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting.
About You
You will have previous experience in a Financial Controller, Senior Management Accountant or similar finance role within an SME environment.
Key requirements:
- Strong management accounts experience.
- Cash flow forecasting and financial planning skills.
- Knowledge of VAT, financial controls and compliance.
- Experience overseeing transactional finance processes.
- Advanced Excel and finance systems knowledge.
- Ability to present financial information to senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Accounting qualifications (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) are welcome, although qualified-by-experience candidates will also be considered.
