The Supply Register is currently recruiting for a Design andamp; Technology Technician to work within a secondary school in Birmingham, starting in September.
Location: Birmingham
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am andndash; 4:00pm
Contract: Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
As a DT Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Design andamp; Technology department, ensuring practical lessons run smoothly and that equipment and materials are prepared safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare materials, tools and equipment for practical DT lessons.
- Maintain and organise workshops, classrooms and storage areas.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained and stored safely.
- Assist teaching staff during practical lessons where required.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials and equipment.
- Carry out routine maintenance of machinery and tools in line with health and safety guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with Health andamp; Safety, COSHH and school procedures at all times.
- Dispose of waste materials safely and maintain a clean working environment.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Head of Department or School Leadership Team.
- Previous experience in a DT Technician, workshop, engineering, manufacturing or maintenance role is desirable.
- Knowledge of workshop tools, machinery and health and safety procedures.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Two professional references covering the last 24 months.
- Right to work in the UK.
